Wedding party

Her side:

Maid of Honor – Emily Spiteri

Growing up, Emily was the person who would follow me around and get me in trouble with our Mom and Dad. For the first years of our sister-hood she was a pain in my…! However, now I couldn’t imagine not having Emily “follow me around” and she’ll do that once again as my Maid of Honor. As many of you know, Emily and I don’t have complete conversations (much to Gordon’s chagrin!). It’s more like this: Sarah “Hey! Do you remember?” Emily “Hahahaha! Of course and then we…” Sarah “I know, right?” and we continue on with our day not realizing no one else could follow the conversation. It’s having someone in your life who you are that close to which makes special moments like getting married all the more exciting! Thank you Emily for being my Maid of Honor as well as the best sister and my best friend.

Bridesmaids – Heather Ruby, Tiffany Adams & Janelle Pittman

I have known Heather and Tiffany since our college years at Michigan State. Heather was my neighbor in the Shaw Hall dorms and Tiffany was in the MSU Spartan Marching Band with me, and both were roommates with me over the years. These two girls have been there for my WHOLE relationship with Gordon and I’m honored to have them stand in my wedding. Janelle and I met while working at American Girl as Retail Leads, and although our career paths at AG have changed our friendship has remained strong and grown with the years. Thank you ladies for being part of this time in my life.

Personal Attendant - Joanne Clyde

First, let me define just what a Personal Attendant’s role is, since I’m sure many of you are scratching your head. The Personal Attendant is someone who is organized, can keep her head cool if an important crisis arises; like if my lucky bobby-pin falls out before pictures and then can still manage to keep MY head cool. She is my go-to person the day of the wedding, someone I trust and value their opinion. Okay, so now that we know what a Personal Attendant does, let’s get onto why I am so happy that Joanne agreed to step into that role for me.

I have known Joanne for 9 ½ years and since she moved to Chicago we have became even closer. She is one of the kindest, most sincere people I know. I’m officially gaining another sister in Joanne, the “in-law” part of the title is just not necessary. Thank you so much for warmly welcoming me into your family and for being part of Gordon and my big day!

His side:

Best Man – Ryan Knoppe

Anyone who knows me and Ryan well can vouch for the difficulty of keeping up with the random comments and obscure tangents that make up a typical conversation. Most conversations are an almost endless flow of inside jokes and seldom end without an insult or a feigned physical attack. Ryan was unable to politely refuse the honor of joining me as best man in my wedding.

But seriously, Ryan will be a fantastic best man and will lead us through a wonderful evening. I am happy to have Ryan at my side as we welcome the Spiteris to our family.

Groomsmen – Paul Sodaro, Scott Harris & James MacCreery

I can not imagine this chapter of my life without having my closest friends Paul, Scott and James with me. I have known Paul since the third grade in Ogden Avenue Grade School and Scott and James since college at Michigan State University.

Flower girl – Liadan Harris

Lia is Gordon and Sarah’s un-official niece whom they love and spoil. She will be 2 years and 9 months at the time of our wedding. Her parents, Scott and Mindy Harris, are like family to us. They live in Grand Rapids, Michigan which is much too far away for our liking!!

Officiate - Anthony McKinney

Sarah and Gordon were lucky enough to meet Anthony through Sarah’s friend and co-worker Dana McKinney. Over the years that Sarah has worked with Dana, Dana mentioned that Anthony has officiated a few weddings for friends, and Sarah tucked that piece of information away... We are so happy to have such a personal connection with the person who is to marry us and thankful that both Dana and Anthony are in our lives.

Ushers - Michael Clyde & Kevin Kielma
